UNICEF is a international children's emergency, and it was created to provide emergency foods and healthcare the photo is called born into conflict they were forced to go to Syria. The father carries his son in a carrycot with his wife and the 11 years old son beside him the father and the mother son they visited a child friendly space to change and ate food provided by volunteers. I think the photographer has taken a picture of this specific family because it shows off their facial expressions and what the family is feeling.

Context
This picture was taken by UNICEF. I think the photographer has taken a picture of this specific family because it shows off their facial expressions and what the family is feeling.
Connection
In our group we talked about how the family had to run away from home because of the devastating war. We also talked about what their facial expressions were like. I was talking mostly and zooming in on how they fled and what the background is like (How they are living) Also we were zooming in on the fact that they have a really young baby which tells us the mother in this picture has only just given birth and is now having to flee from home. The structure is the family of 4 running from home because of the devastating war.
Comment |
I like how the photographer has focused on the family of 4 and how its let us see the building in the background so we know what environment they are in, another strength is that the camera is focused on the main people and the background is a bit more out of focus which is good In my opinion the weaknesses are that it could have been better in black and white because it would of had more of an affect on the people that are seeing the picture. The meaning behind this photo is that the family has fled from home and had to travel a long way just to get away.
Composition
On this picture the person that taken this photo have zoomed in on the 4 people which appear to look disturbed and terrified as if they have saw terrible things. The picture is perspective because you can see their height, width and also you can see the peoples surroundings and what kind of environment they are in. They have done this on purpose to that you can see the background and the muddy flour they had to walk through to get away. Also it is a hard contrast with a leading line from the dad to son
Content
The picture is in colour and i think the image is recent because of the colour and we didn't have color a long time ago on pictures, also the picture was taken by UNICEF. The picture was taken in Syria and this family is clearly running away from the war and they had to run away from home with their belongings. This picture has been taken by a family of 4 with a young baby so this shows that this mother has only just give birth and is now having to run away. The effect is that there is a war going on and they have all had to run from home, also in this picture you can see there is an isolated building in the building to show that the place they are in is abandoned.
Mental Health UK brings together four national mental health charities working across the UK.
They have 40 years' experience of working to improve life for people affected by mental illness in England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. We were originally set up as a single UK-wide organisation in the 1970s, and we are now working together once again as Mental Health UK.
We are working together to raise funds so that more people across the UK can access support for their own mental health and for friends and family members who are affected by mental illness.

MOOD BOARD
All of these images link to my theme of conflict which is Mental health (Depression,Anxiety, self harm) I chosen this one because i think it is very important and people don't understand how serious it is.
In this photo the photographer has helped express what Anxiety is really like and how difficult it is living with it. This photo really stands out because it shows how Anxiety affects us and what it does. The body language shows us how she is feeling and having her hand is on her head and her legs and body all curled up.This image makes me feel sympathetic for the women in this photo as her hand is on her head and that she has no one to help her.
Comment
This picture, in my opinion is really effective in expressing what Anxiety is like. What i like most about this image is that it expresses all sorts of emotion and gives a direct feeling on what she is feeling, which is clearly sad, lonely and stressed. We should also be more aware of how one and another are feeling.
Connection
This image also tells us that maybe the photographer has been through Anxiety and feels as if it needs to be recognized more. The photographer wanted to express what the woman is going through when they clearly shouldn't. In this image it doesn't actually show the women's facial expressions however, we can imagine that the women is looking distressed and annoyed at something.
First shoot
All of these pictures, in my opinion are very bad because i didn't really think i thought about it, because i should've told my model (sofyan) to show off his facial expressions. So in my next shoot i will make sure the person seeing the pictures can see the models facial expression, Facial expressions also show what the person is feeling.
My best photo
In my opinion this is my best photo because my model, Sofyan, has his hands on his face, this shows what the he is feeling. Also i think it is good because it is in the middle and draws the viewers attention straight to the subject of the photo, I also like this photo because it shows how stressed and sad he is by his body language. His posture also makes the viewer worry and feel concerned for his well being and his mental health as it clearly shows how it is affecting poor Sofyan. I believe this photo is successful as my aim was to make people understand how mental health issues affect us, especially among young people.
My worst photo
I think this is my worst photo because it doesn't show his facial expressions and didn't have much thought behind it. Also, i think i should've zoomed in more on the model (sofyan) because the image doesn't tell us exactly what Sofyan is feeling and what he is doing.I believe this photo has failed because, compared to the other one this one doesn't zoom in on the victim whereas, the other one draws our eyes only to Sofyan. Also the bright background drags our attention away from the subject of the photo.

Worst photo |
I think this is my best photo because his body language shows distress and anxiety, Reflecting what victims would actually experience. This image also shows our victim, ben is feeling with anxiety and appears to be very stressed.
|
I think this is my worst photo because it is far too bright. Also this picture does not have a meaning behind it. This picture is also bad because the lighting is making his face is too bright and is changing the whole mood of the picture.

My chosen theme is light and dark. I have decided to take pictures of bright objects against the dark/black backgrounds.
Most of my pictures are going to consist of black and white so it has an effect on the viewer. I am interested in Ansel Adams because his pictures are incredible and his pictures have a lot of meaning behind them. Ansel Adams also shows the impact on the picture and what exactly is happening.
Ansel Adams has pictures that are very inspirational hence why i did light and dark, i got a lot of ideas from Ansel's work which helped me built my light and dark project.
I also picked light and dark because it shows what the photographer is doing and what he is trying to do in the image.
Light and dark was my chosen theme because i felt that i could do well in it and preferred that to doing framing.
